d2mini's Epic Fantabulous New Reef Build

Thanks guys! :)

Hit a small snag on the install so I got delayed for a few days, but it was an excuse to pick up a new tool. :D
Install should resume in another day or two.

A little sneak peak at what I've been working on... :)

Got the Touch last week. Just needed to figure out where to mount it.
Didn't really like the idea of cutting a big hole in my new cabinetry, though.

So I opted to cut into the sheetrock instead. Much easier to repair if I ever need to and the height/location is perfect. ;)

Had to notch out a stud and this stud was backed right up to another stud. So i bought a Dremel Multi-Max with flush cut blade which made quick work of it.
I notched out the exact depth of the Touch and the wood I was going to mount it to.
Then I cut the piece of scrap wood the size of the Touch and cut out the whole for the wire. Then mounted it to the stud on one side and what you can't see is an L-bracket that holds it to the stud on the left side.

Then just a few small pieces of 3M double sided tape and the Touch is in place, solid as a rock and flush with the sheetrock. :)
Working on the trim now, to cover the sheetrock and black trim of the Touch.

Nice! But do you really need an excuse to buy a new tool???? I always thought you were to buy the tool and then come up with why you had to have the tool?

Finished! :)

It's pretty much at eye level and feels just like walking up to my home's thermostat.
The location is great because I walk by it all the time since that's our mud room coming in from the garage right there.
