Brittany's teeny tiny reef!

....mine is a goner then...I only see the skeleton and the white is spreading...this sucks. I set this tank up for this plate coral to survive. Cycle took too Dang long...

Too late now I guess...

keep it in there, even if it dies. theyre known for producing offspring as they die. one lost could turn into 10 fungia babies!

Aww thats too bad Brittany im sorry to hear about your plate. I know it was the whole purpose of your mini reef setup. I hope it doesnt hinder your new found love for mini reefing!! I look forward to more pics as it progresses. :)

Thanks washburn. The tank finally finished cycling so I did a 20% water change today and the plate started looking really nasty and moldy so I took it out and yep it was 100% dead. It had such a terrible stench. I also got a coral fragging kit today from brs and I went fragging away in my 29g. I put the frags in the 10g so the hermits don't trample them around. I also put my hammer in the ten gallon. Everything is still closed up and the water is cloudy still. As soon as it clears I will post pics.

My fire and ice zoas are here! I'm acclimating them now but here's a couple pics. I also saw a stomella snail in there...I think that's the name...the snail without a shell. Anyways I'm excited! It was very well packed. Hot packs, triple bagged. I got them from saltyunderground.com

Okay here they are opened up! I love them but I thought they were going to be red and blue...not orange and blue. Here's the pic of what I thought I was getting.
the site said it was a wysiwyg item. I guess it doesn't show the exact peice you are getting. Oh well. I still like them. I bouht them bc I thought they were red tho..

the color looks different because of your lighting. I would also very carefully check your zoas. Stomalla snails still have shell, its just flat and small on their back. No shell at all is a nudibranch and they are usually coral eaters.

Beautiful zoas! And the colors will look different under different lights. But they are pretty dang spiffy no matter if they're red or orange!

I traded in my gorgonians today and brought home this guy! Sorry for the cloudy pictures, the tank is still very cloudy.

ohhhh....ahhhh...how big is that rock of zoas you got there? they always look so large with these macro shots.

that brain looks kind of like my lime brain but yours is cooler cause it has a deeper green. very nice pick ups. were you just bored with the gorgs? successful with it at all?

The gorgs were not doing well. The hermits where always climbing on them and they had algae on them all the time which causes the tissue to come off. They were non photo so its hard to feed them. The rock of zoas is the size of an egg but the rock is flat and has polyps on all sides.

yeah, my dang hermits and my emerald are always climbing on my gorg, too and all my corals. they are so annoying. i'm glad they seem to prey on each other and eat one another as weird as that is. they can be so annoying. sorry to hear about your gorg, mine is doing surprisingly well and grows and it eats a lot, i guess.

i think you ended up with a cooler piece, though. and the size of an egg?! my goodness, i thought it was at least seven inches or so, i wish zoas were bigger.haha.

beautiful stuff, thanks for the share!
