Parrot's 150 Long

That is good news!!! Did they agree to help you move it too lol?? So this wireless bridge setup........what type of equipment are you using to monitor the tank? I've seen a few controllers that will perform this function just wondering which one you went with.

haha, probably not.

I have a ghl profilux3 aquarium computer. It's alright. I invested a lot in the profilux before the tank switch, so I'm loathe to swap.

The GHL doesn't have wireless, but it has LAN support, so I used to bridge to "make" it wireless. The GHL has a built in webserver, so if I forward my network's address of it to my network's IP, I can access it from outside the LAN and control things.

I originally went with GHL for their support of aqua illumination modules, but Neptune looks like a much more attractive, user friendly product.

Got a few questions as I start to plumb/design the tank while waiting for the replacement stand.

I don't want to put everything on GFCI - with the risk of one popping as they tend to do from time to time, the critical things like the return pump and the vortechs, I don't want on GFCI. I was thinking definitely the heaters, and the sensitive electrical components, like the aquarium computer. Any thoughts?

Also, in the overflow box is the hole for the return. What's the best way to plumb it from the bulkhead to the tank? I didn't have them drill any holes in the top of the overflow for a pipe to go through there, so it will have to go up, and over the overflow - which, if not done right, could look ugly. I was thinking maybe I could use loc-line once it hits the top of the overflow, but I heard you shouldn't keep that above water, since it isn't watertight.

(and yeah, obviously drill a hole or two as a siphon break)

My overflow has a notch cut out at the top to allow the loc line to exit right at the top of the overlow (the knuckle joints are actually above the water and not the overflow). If you don't want to notch your overflow, what about raising the return line just enough to allow for a 90 degree elbow and then a small piece of pipe with a 45 degree bend at the end to attach the loc line to. That way it isn't hanging over the overflow and if it drips it will drip into the tank.

Hmmm thanks Burch. I don't have any experience w loc line; so it just drips? That wouldn't be too bad and beats having ugly PVC running into the tank.

It definately looks better than PVC! Loc Line is leak resistant not truly leak proof so there is the possibility that it could leak over time. Should it spring a leak having it over the tank versus the overflow is just an extra precaution until you can replace the section.

Yeah, Burch, I've always liked the look of it, that's why I bought some ahead of time from BRS! But, yeah, I wasn't sure on having it "in the air" instead of just submerged. I'm half tempted to try to drill a hole into my overflow so I can run the return line through that, about 1" below the waterline, but it's such a risk drilling the plastic box.

Thanks Brittany! I learned a lot over the years from my 75 and I'm hoping to apply all my dreams and lessons learned into this new one!

So again, nothing much new, the stand gets here monday so hopefully I can get some friends over asap to help me move the tank over to it.

I did get the acrylic box I had custom made for the algae scrubber, it looks pretty pimp, if I may say so.

Thanks Kully! It is a stickley! My house is an old mission-style house, and I'm slowly trying to make the entire house mission/arts&crafts style. Right now I'm trying to find a couch that isn't going to smash my budget....and a grandfather clock...and a coffee table!

I just got in my sunshine LED grow system for the lights for the algae scrubber. Just gotta figure out an easy way to mount them to the side of the box.

So here are some pics of my sump and the "scrubber box" for the algae scrubber - also, the LED grow lights for the scrubber that SM has been evaluating with pretty good results. I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount them around the box.

The books are just being used to show how high the scrubber box will be - I'm going to drill some holes into the sump and have the scrubber return water into them. I wanted to mount the box on top of the sump, but it won't fit, so I'll have to make something to elevate it alongside the sump.

Any input?
