Parrot's 150 Long

Also, off topic - notice my benches are all scraped up from the dogs looking out the window? I'm thinking of putting granite tile on there....?

lol, thanks Waddi.
ugh, I'm a little intimidated by it all, to be honest. I'm not handy at ALL, and I keep getting curveballs in the plan. I really have no idea how to mount these LEDs!

Ya know, Brian, I'm not really sure. They seem to put out a good spread of light, so if spaced far enough away, maybe.

But, the screen is waaay oversized for the tank, so if it only covers X amount, it still should be plenty.

I guess, in short, we'll see! If not, I'll either order more lights or redesign it.

Well Alex if you decide you need a gunea pig to test it for you I'll PM you my address and you can fedex that stuff over  lol

haha, fair enough! If I don't like it, you can have it!

Here's a pic of it on:

I think the PVC idea would be the best. You could have a TEE shaped base anchored to the stand someway with a Horizontal top bar that you could hang the light from??

build a wooden frame that is rectangular and mount them to the wood, the box can be inbetween the wooden frame kind of like this

Untitled-19.jpg

the tan is the wood, the blue is the acrylic box and the red is the leds. not sure if the leds have a mount or not that will fasten to the wood, but if it does, that may work. if you do use wood, make sure paint it with kilz (its mildew resistant and will keep the wood from warping, plus the white reflects light better.

or, maybe you could mount 2 cross beams in the top portion of your stand and hang the leds with cable, rope, or chains. if there is no place to mount the leds but the casing is metal, you could use small self tapping screws. (just make sure you drill them into an area without wiring or electrical.)

just a thought.

it looks to be one of those things youll have to tinker with so play with it and see how it all unfolds. it took me a while to figure out how i was going to mount my diy leds in my canopy but an hours at lowes did the trick

I made a stand with PVC. The "legs" aren't attached since I don't know how tall itll be. The light is going to be horizontal and the small PVC extension keeps it from swiveling. It's zip tied to the PVC by its mounting hooks.

Yeah, thanks Buddy - I was at lowes and had an epiphany. What sucks is now I gotta drill my sump with two input holes from the scrubber since the scrubber box won't fit on top of the sump. And I'm going to have to figure out the best way to raise the scrubber box about 10" off the ground while still having access to the drains underneath.

Got the new stand in!! Leveling it tomorrow and hopefully done w plumbing next weekend!!
