MitchReef's Reef...well the current one at least....

Wow. I'm jealous. My base rock from MacroRocks cost 60$ for 25 Lbs and 110$ for a 50 Lbs box :frustrat:. Nice job on the bargain though

I had a friend who swore by the rock yard rock....you just have to soak it real good as it may have phosphates.....I'm cleaning all the rock anyway....

Where are you going in FL BigK? I could take you to my favorite rock yard....even with shipping it home it would be a steal....

I had a really good day today...I got the inside sanding done and cleaned the room all up....I got the main display tank stand legs trimmed and adjusted and I got a real good heavy coat of primer / sealer up throughout the room....I also took the display and sump tanks outside and spent some hose time with them and I will just have a bit of hand cleaning left to do...there is still a good bit of old white coralline algae on the display tank overflow boxes but I am going to leave it there...it will just cover over and purple up with the rest of the coralline growth....My daughter and I also went to a new reef shop here in town where he had full boxes of Reef Crystals on sale for $40 so I grabbed one, that will pretty much all go into the initial setup of the system...he also let go of a nice frag of a pretty good looking chalice that I felt would look real good in the display when I get everything done....Here are a few snaps....

Not a bad looking $15 frag in my book.....

Tomorrow I give it all one or two more coats and finish priming the main display stand and by my calculations it will be time to hoist the display into place!!!!!

I swear....that guy is ALWAYS on here....LOL!!!!

I am pretty hyped myself....the sanding went amazingly well...I sanded until my rotator cuff got too bad and I started cleaning to paint!!!!

Tomorrow there will be a big piece of glass in my Living Room wall!!!!

It's late, and my kids are sleeping lol. I told you already :p, I leave this link as well as my e-mail open in tabs. Anytime someone posts on a thread I'm subscribed too, I get a notification almost instantly lol. Once I see it, I can't heeeelpppp but go check it out :p

I'm with you...if you notice I'm on here an inordinate amount of time too!!!!

I have no life....I didn't work on the computer Thursday or Friday nights so I have a nasty amount to do tomorrow but all I gotta do now is roll primer and cut in with a brush and I have my good angle cut Purdy professional line brush for that.....I should have all of it smeared and the stand up by a reasonable time in the afternoon.....then a few hours for the stand to cure and it will be cut the wall time....and tank up.....gotta get a neighbor to help me lift it, but there are several who will be around!!!!

Sounds sweet. You can almost touch the finish line at this point :). Also, on a completely different note, I picked up (and set up!) a 60(or65g) Hex tank with a stand (for free :)!).

Yup....I didn't order my bulkheads yet but need to do it in the morning....I need to do the one outside wall that faces the garage door cause that is where my RO/DI and water change mix tank will be set up......I am going to set up my current 55G tank as a saltwater mix tank with it's outlet going through the wall to a valve into the top of the sump......there will also be a bulkhead to a valve and drain hose to the driveway....easy water changes....above the mix tank and left of it will be my new blue drum in a cradle on its side with a float valve inside it and my RO/DI unit mounted below it on the wall....I'm going to mount the Apex on the inside of that same wall with the control/display an the wall opposite the display tank...that's the wall where I want to have my current 29 plumbed into the sump for a frag / growout tank.....

details.....I just gotta show you all these plans as I put them together....

Thanks a lot....appreciate the kind words....I didn't sleep well last night....watched 3:30 click by....so I'm getting a slow start, about to run to Lowes for another gallon of primer....I'm using Zinser 1-2-3 to seal and prime....The stuff will lock to anything....I once used it to paint over the old dark ugly 70s woodtone plastic veneer stuff and it had sufficient tooth to make one with the cabinets....and it's superior in wet situations....

Wish me luck....a lot to do....
Mitch

Well......I guess it's official.....

I think I'm going to do an In-Wall setup....here is my proof....

What do y'all think??? In-wall or not....I'm leaning toward yes!!!!

I still have a lot to do....I ordered bulkheads and when they come in I can do all the plumbing...I still need to build a stand for my sump/fuge and stands for my RO/DI and salt mixing drums....Hang the lights....install the Apex....etc....

This just got really fun again....all of a sudden!!!!

I should have ordered my bulkheads sooner....I just hate waiting for things to arrive!!!! I am patient with my tank, just not with getting it ready for water!!!!

Hopefully I will have the bulkheads before the weekend, or at least by Saturday....I still have plenty of other things to do, so even if I don't get them I will be okay....

I checked my rock water and it is no detectable Phosphates or Nitrates....I will try to pressure wash all of them this weekend and get a couple more RO/DI soaks under the belt and it ought to be good for the setup....I will still have to clean all that is in the holding tank as it is a known mess....
