180 gallons up in this!!!! NWKRC!

Does he take care of your algae pretty quick?

Mine does a really good job at eating it rather quickly. I'll throw him in the sump for awhile because I don't think there's enough algae for him and my tangs plus my foxface. Also I have a bunch of snails to consider.

Are you running GFO or carbon? What kind of skimmer?

Was running carbon, pulled it due to HLLE theories with carbon. Played the safe card but ran carbon for a long time. I'm using a deltec mce600 skimmer. this was an EXPENSIVE skimmer but it produces tons of skimmate.

well there is my most current FTS and i decided to jack some things up tonight. I got rid of the Sohal once and for all. All of my fish just got it way too hard from the sohal. He couldnt seem to get along with anything in there so he had to go. I have a new replacment for him coming within a week so no big deal, and my LFS was totally accomidating with the trade i requested. I had to recruit the help of my wonderful girlfriiend to complete the task of swooping up this rather hard to catch yet large fish. For some reason the sohal hates nori and additionaly hates the magfloat more. so I put some nori in one side to tie up the other tankmates and started moving the mag float around to get him to dart to the other side of the tank. Once that was done we jammed a glass top front to back in the tank to seperate both sides and slowly moved almost all the rock over to the other sectioned off side in order to get to the sohal. After everything was moved it wasnt too hard.

Im very sad to get rid of such a BEAUTIFUL and active fish, but it was not something i was willing to put up with anymore because it turned into 100 percent havoc in my tank every day all day.

here is the tank sectioned off

and the aftermath with all of my rock rearranged in a not so neat way.

I redid the right side of my tank afterwards and I will post a picture tomorrow to gather your guys' opinion to see if you liked it better before or now.

after the queen and the sohal im scared for any new fish to go into the tank...lol. the tank looks really good now though, a new look that i think jack is really enjoying. ill miss how beautiful the sohal was but i wont miss seeing jacks fin torn to shreds.

Looks good, scrub the rocks! At least we can see through the front glass.

the rocks are not scrubbable for the most part. all the algae you see is all mostly turf algae that is anchored very strongly to the rock. Though I do remove some hair algae from time to time. My urchin is doing a pretty good job on the algae scene, Its just such a large area for one urchin so its a very slow process.

Dang, that's some crazy algae..... but the transformation is looking good! Must be nice to have so much horizontal space to play with. :)

yep my rock looks nothing like your brand new rock that has not had time for any algae to show its ugly face. Its been a slow process but i have some long term goals to fix it but its a slow process.

and yes the 72 inch space is nice, but its still not big enough for me. I still plan to go bigger in the future.
