Smitty's Reef

Well guys, I tried my hand at sps's, but I see my tank is not quite ready...my lps's are doing great though. I was gonna send the frags to Yote so that he could save them, but as you can see, they bleached/died before I could send them.
This used to be a pink birdnest

Sorry to see that smitty. I know you liked your birdsnest but in time you'll have a great piece again. What's the temp. around your parts now? Tryin to find something to ship that shroom out to you, if your still interested. Need some room on my substrate for a brain.

Oh yeah, I'm still interested...it's about an average of 55* in Chicago the past few days and next week ahead.

That sucks... its soooo hard not to put stuff in before it is ready..

In time though...all will be good and you can try again.

Besides...it's only money :):frustrat:

Sorry about the sps not making it. I'm going through a bit of that problem as well. I bought a bunch of different sps corals and they were all doing very well for about a month . Each of them put on some new growth. In the last 3 weeks I've lost 4 sps. I'm going to stay away from any new ones for a while.

Yeah, I don't get it, but I'm not going to sweat it. I was just conducting a test run with them. I know I have a small trace of PO4, that I can't seem to get rid of, so that may have been it. Since I won't be doing sps's for the time being...I can start stocking more softies then.

I can't find anyone locally who has small styrafoam boxes. So i'm thinking of stopping by Wally world tonight to see if they have any inexpensive Tupperware that'll fit into a priority mail box. I think it'll work. Something water tight and I can put some hand warmers in with it.

Thanks everyone...I'll stick with lps's seeing how they're easier, prettier and also my full name initials :)

Ok, what gives...now my last and final chromis has been missing for the last 3 days. Oh well! I know its not my water, I had it tested yesterday and everything is perfect and in order. I guess it's time to go fish shopping again.

Yeah, I believe that the collectors are using cyanide to collect them because of their difficulty to catch in open water.

I've been topping off a lot lately, more than usual, so I bought a glass top for my tank to slow down the evaporation rate. I also want to get some reef fish such as firefish, wrasse's gobies or something, which are all jumpers, so the lid will greatly reduce the odds of me losing a fish. Plus, I don't have to worry about my grandmother's bad a$$ kitten taking a dip.
