Minimum Tank Size

Hey

The problem that I am having is that some tanks are tall but not very wide, so even if it has the right amount of gallons, there is not much horizontal swimming room. Will this matter to some fish or will it be ok because of the increased vertical room?

Are you talking about active fish like tangs? If so, they need horizontal space, not vertical

Generally speaking, because of some of the water chemistry going on in saltwater, you want a longer, shallower tank. The 'tall' or 'show' tanks do not make good displays for saltwater

Really deep tanks are also much more challenging to get good light to the bottom of as well........
