Hiker's 75g Upgrade

Very nice looking Dave. adding the rest of that LR really made a difference. For that frag swap tomorrow do people only bring what is reserved or do they bring stuff for sale too. Cant wait for that swap, never been to one so really excited.

At this particular swap people will frag for sale there that were not requested on fragswapper.com. You can walk around and browse the selection, but I do advise buying something you really like early becuase it might not be there later. It gets quite busy at this swap.

Here's a list of what I got at the swap today.

Got a chance to speak with Jason Fox and bought his Candy Apple Red Zoanthids,

ATL Raspberry Lemonade Acro
Fuzzy Blue Acro Colony
Paleta Prostrata
Sunset Mille
Purple Nana
Rasta Zoanthid
Golddust Zoanthids
Fruit Loop Zoanthids
Tyree LE The Grinch Monti
Hawaiian Pink Pocillopora Damascus
Purple Stylophora Milka

Pics tomorrow as the frag are still acclimating from the swap. The lights will off before I put them in the tank.

Geez Dave, that rack is spilling over! Send me some of those, you obviously have way too many frags these days. Very nice BTW!

That's because I'm only down to 1 frag rack in the tank. I had 32 inches worth of frag racks across the front of the glass. Now I'm down to one 12" section. It will be gone in a week or so. I like to let the new frags chill on there for little while so they can get used to the tank without getting bothered too much and its really easy to adjust their lighting and flow that way.

I'll get some better pics in a few days. You can't even see the rasta, but all I have to say is its super bright just like those candy apple reds.

I was actually looking at the Candy Apple Greens from Bay Corals the other day. Would be kinda cool to take 2 or 3 of each and mount them on a plug or rock and just let them go.

That works. I tried the same thing with Red and Blue Hornets, darn Reds melted on me, so now I have a 3 polyp frag of the blues sitting all lonely on a tile. Might try again after the Purple Hornets go out, just throw 3 of each on the tile and hope they take off on me.

That sucks they melted. I'm still tyring to find someone local to trade for purple hornets. If not, I might be hitting you up in the coming months.

Let me know. For some reason the purples are still holding their value. I've had them for a little over a month now and they are starting up with the babies now. If they grow like the Reds and Blues, I'll have about 10 in a couple months.

Will do. The reds are actually growing well for me. I started off with 5 polyps and now I have 7 with another baby starting to grow as of this morning. I've only had them about 2 weeks. The marijanes have also sprouted a baby.

Do you guys know why zoas seem to melt away sometimes? I don't get it. Everything in my tank grows wonderful and fantastic, but I've tried armor of god palys THREE TIMES NOW, and every time they do the same thing -- start out looking great, then over a few weeks or months, start to close up, then they slowly disintegrate until there's nothing left. I've tried different heights in the tank, nothing works. What is it about that one type of paly that I can't keep them?

I really have no clue Sarah. I can't seem to keep Fruit Loops from melting. I bought them again last weekend at the frag swap and so far almost 15+ polyps have melted away. I'm still hanging onto about 5 or 6, but I'm not hopefull.

My Magician Palys are hanging on by a thread for the past 3 months. They never open all the way and are super skinny. I don't know how they're still alive. I've tried them in about every tank condition I can think of just short of sticking them in a cave with little or no lighting. :frustrat:

I guess for every tank there are going to be a few corals that just don't work for some reason. That's what I'm blaming it on. Keep trying and eventually you'll get it to work for you.
