Brittany's teeny tiny reef!

that cool Britt I've been looking in to converting my H.O.B. filter in to a refugium. im just trying to find a good enough light to keep the chaeto alive as well as the rock going. Then its pull that puppy off the tank and get to work putting it together.

I did end up returning the light and buying a new one. I kept on reading everywhere that the bulb go out after three months so o returned it and got this instead.

The fuge is almost done. I just have to scrape off the extra silicone. It doesn't look very pretty, I made kind of a mess but idc as long as it works lol

That's what I'm saying once I finish mine. I just need to find a light that works for me you know lol. let me know how that led works out for you

That's exactly the same one I got! But mine is the mixed blue/white, which I'm hoping works out okay for chaeto. Nano HOB 'fuges rock!

Let's just say I suck at DIY projects. The silicone is messy and ugly and I didn't leave a space big enough for carbon. I guess its working but I just have a small bag of carbon under the chaeto right now. And I didn't rinse to crap off the chaeto so I tied a sponge to where the water flows out. Pictures are uploading as we speak.

And an updated fts. Looks like crap. I don't even want to look at the tank right now. Red slime is everywhere. I'm going to have to use that red slime remover I think.

Thanks Matt. I really hope it does. This cyano is getting out of control. This tank is stressing me out. Cloudy water, red slime, bugs on the frogspawns. Someone knocked over my candy can coral...again...ugh

Great job, Brittany! I was having an issue getting my chaeto to stay in there. Now I know what to do! :D
Good luck with the slime!

Thanks guys. I really hope it works. I think I will be using the red slime remover the night before water change and then suck out all the dead stuff. Then hopefully the cheato will use the nutrients to grow and not the red slime. It really is a great way to add a fuge to a small area. I got the light from saltwatercritters.com. I love it so far. The description on the site said its perfect for refugiums. I'm thinking of taking apart the fuge and making a bigger spot for the carbon but idk if I want to go thru all that. That means i have to pull everything out from under the cabinets and get silicone everywhere again. On the other hand the fish seem to be doing great. They all eat like pigs and are becoming fat like my mandarin. All of their personalities are coming out now that they are comfortable.

Fuge looks great! I may totally steal your idea when I get the cash. Hopefully that and the remover takes care of the red slime problem. Cyano is the devil!
