Brittany's teeny tiny reef!

**positive update alert** so today I'm going to focus on all the positives instead of the negative things going on with the tank.

Tank cloudiness is improving. Now I can see to the back of the tank where yesterday I have to squint to see Oliver in the back. Here's a picture.

And here are some pictures of the corals. I got a few frags from Valasaraptor and they are doing very well. My favorite are the yellow polyps. :) The corals are just waking up in these pics so they might not be fully extended.

Hope you enjoy. Sorry for the cloudy pictures.

Yup. Tank is clearing up nicely. Try a few more changes with RO/DI or distilled. Maybe it's just the location of that particular tank that is making tap water unfeasible. No telling. But if you keep changing out with RO/DI or distilled, you will eventually remove the algae, bacteria, and their food! With no source of food to reproduce, the algae and bacteria will eventually die off, and removing large portions of the populations can't hurt either.....

Yay!!!! The yellow polyps look awesome! Same with the ring of fire!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to you! :) I think I'm actually going to put them in the 29 gallon so I can see them better. the cloudy tank doesn't do them justice. I'm also going to put the hammer back in the 29 and put the frogspawn in the 10. Coral rearranging time Haha! Petland just got in some tank raised zoas and they are pretty awesome. They have fire and ice zoas, cherry bombs, green bay packers and red people eat palys. If I had money I would get the cherry bombs. They would be awesome for your breast cancer theme bc they glow pink! Next time I see you ill give you a frag of my lord of the rings zoas. They glow pink in the middle.

I love your zoas. My wife doesn't like zoas so i don't think we will have any in our tank which makes me a little sad lol. Glad to see your tank is clearing up!

Who doesn't like zoas! Has she seen them in person? The really colorful ones! Zoas are one of my favorites

lol she just doesnt like how they look. I'm sure I could do some and she would be fine with it but I want to do a SPS heavy tank anyways. Tabling acros and such. we are really trying to acurately recreat a natural look rather than collect cool corals. I am excited to get coral though lol.

Lol it has been a struggle because I look and see all these awesome different kinds of coral and I have to restrain myself.

So I came up with idea to track a few things. The temperature, the salinity and the nitrates. I wrote out a chart in my notebook. The temp is bc I want to know how much its fluctuating throughtout the day. I'm worried its fluctuating too much. Then I'm going to test the salinity everyday and see how often and how much I have to top off. And then the nitrates just bc I want to see how much they raise in a week. Prlly not much. Here some pictures of my charts. Nothing fancy, just written out.

Would it have killed you to use a ruler? lol im so kidding Brittany. Good thinking. Hopefully your charts help you get to the bottom of your problems. I bought sa little notepad and every say since day 1 have been writing everything i test for down in it. ITs great to be able to see the flucuation.
