Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I run my heaters on a controller, more dependable. guess anything can fail, but a controller would give you full control of your temperature. just a thought. hope all is well. project seems to be moving along very good.

Thats the bad thing about halides and the one and only reason I dont really like em.
Have you tryed letting a small fan blow across the surface of your water? That might help keep the temp down.

I am going to buy two small fans today Yote! All of the fish survived, are out and swimming, and eating very hungrily. My blastos, bubble coral and frogspawn looks like toast. But I can still see a couple tiny places where they are alive. Zoas seem fine -- but I did pull a TINY sundial snail last night off of one colony! NOOOO! Looked really hard for any more, and didn't find any. Ricordias and shrooms -- who knows. They haven't opened up yet. Everything else looks so-so. I'm kinda sad, because it looks like I will lose a lot of LPS because of this :(. Oh, hermit crabs are fine, but I think I lost about half my snails too...

I think when I do the aquascaping and arrange the corals, I'm going to space all my zoa colonies really far apart from each other in case there are some more sundials, I can easily isolate the infected rocks and prevent them from spreading.

Of course the damn kenya weeds appear to be flourishing today...

Yote, these Koralias KICK TOTAL ASS. I am so happy with them. They are so easily to clean, and they are super quiet, and they completely blend in with the background, you can't even tell they are in my tank. Thank you for recommending them!

I knew you'd love em Biff.
I'm thinking about ordering 3 K1s to hide back in my rock. Why I dont know,I just like the hurricane effect I reckon.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has problems.I guess misery loves company. My brand new pump makes a racket. The Kenyas are all fully open even with ammonia at 3-4.My Tonga rock doesn't look as good as I hoped.

Love the frozen veggie trick,I'm going to keep that in mine whenever I have heat issues.I see there is a lot of foaming, same here.It must of been the sand and the little packet it came with.

I thought I was the one who recommended the Koralias?
Hope things get better.

The foaming went away after about 24 hours. I got the sump up and running today, that's making things a lot better.

I'm just holding on, waiting for the cycle to begin, hoping that it'll be a little one and that my corals and fish will survive it. I was only prepping them with the boil yesterday :). You know, trying to toughen them all up before the ammonia and nitrite hits them!

sorry to read about you heater problems..and about your coral loses..i hope everyting gets to place soon..your smart biff..in no time youll know your tank and have it controlled...it takes time with new big tanks ( i woulndnt know) but ive read some, till you figure out all the tank needs and donts...buena suerte biff!!...i saw the pics and they looks great..

Here it is. The MOST BORING UPDATE EVER. The live rock came today (130 lbs). Here are some pics of a few of the pieces, and of the rock curing in my tank. Yay! There was a pretty thick coating of mud on all the rocks, so I won't know what they really look like until they are done curing. My only complaint -- ONE OF THE BOXES WAS FILLED WITH ANTS!!! I opened the cardboard box in my dining room, opened up styrofoam cooler, opened up the bag that was holding the live rock, and BAM freakin ants everywhere!!! I had to put the damn box outside, rocks and all! Gross. God knows how that happened.
