180 gallons up in this!!!! NWKRC!

I take back all the things I said about you last night. You are the MAN!!! Now we can bond about Koran Angels. Mine is about 1/3 of the way done with his adult change. Have you seen pics of the adults?!?!?!?!? WOW, I almost cry eat time I see one.

-Dr Marco :sfish:

Yours will start to change at about 5 inches and the change takes the better part of a year. They tend to start blending in the middle of the body at first and then the change starts at the snout and works its way to the tail.

I feed my guy every day. I switch up angel/butterfly portions from san francisco bay, emerald entree, mysis, squid and krill. All from SFB company. they are greedy little pigs.

I am literally dancing around the room I am so happy someone else on this forum has a big angel - now we can compare notes. I have been waiting for this for a while. I hope I don't bug the he!! out of you with my blabberings. Anyway....CONGRATS!!!

-Dr Marco :sfish:

I'm glad i made you dance doc. and no it doesn't bother me. the only think that bothers me is your massive abusive posting. these kind of self destructive tendencies are almost "borderline" :) I would say its about 3 inches. I'm excited doc and since I have taken the plunge, I plan on a blue ring aswell. I would love to compare notes. we have started our own angel krew! and I'm getting post count legitimately here :P

Ouch. two slams in one post, first calling me borderline and then legit posts. Wow. OK, try this on for size... Be careful with your Koran and adding a blue ring. I did that and they are too close in their juv coloration to match. They fight. The blue ring will win as they are super aggressive. The have the nickname "blue king angel". Even if you get a smaller blue ring, it will run the koran out of the tank. Don't do it. Blue rings are one angel that does need to be alone in a tank, unless it is SUPER huge. I am not sure a 180 is big enough. Legit enough?

-Dr Marco :sfish:

BTW I am up to starting an Angel Crew. I am no where near done with angels. I am looking to add more to my 125 and then upgrade to the sickest tank anyone has EVER seen!!!

-Dr Marco :sfish:

hmmm well then the french? they are totally different colors. i was just thinking i would stay away from french since they are aggressive but it sounds safer color considered

One thing you can do is add a bigger, more passive angelfish. there are a few options. If you are willing to wait until the koran is MUCH bigger, you can get away (probably) with getting a juv french. Or, check this out....you can get an emperor (just cuz I kill them doesn't mean you will) or better yet, a blueface. I want to add one, but my Koran is too big and territorial for that now. Yours is the perfect size to put one in. Check them out, might be worth a look-see. you have the space.

-Dr Marco :sfish::sfish:

are you talking about an adult or juv emperor? it was origionally the first fish i ever wanted when i started up. but juv. and my koran is close so i figured i fulfilled that need, why would the juv french be so bad? expecially if the Koran is already established dont you think that would carry some pull?

Way to go on the post counts Doc.Four replies that could of been condense into one.

Beautiful Angel Red.You can tell Doc is tickled to death.
Nice asterinas and cyano BTW.

Damnit i knew someone was going to burn me on the cyano :( that sucks. oh well. thanks anyways.

nice broken tank and overstocked bioload tank reeffreak

reef, I didn't mean to post that much. I was in shock and I just couldn't think straight. I kept thinking about new things to say after completing a post. My bad. But, do you realize how long I have been waiting for someone here to get a pomacanthus angel?

-Dr Marco :sfish:

well there is always the edit button ;)

im excited. i cant wait to check it out again tomorrow. i barely got any time tonight to see the fish before lights out

now then, about the angels alexander,

I would go with an adult emperor. to insure compliance with your existing fish, you want something that the Koran will not touch. The new fish will not see the Koran as a threat and he will be too scared of the adult size to fight him for territory.

It worked with my blue angel and koran.

You might be fine with a juv french as well. try to get a bit bigger than the koran.

-Dr Marco :sfish:

what kind of lighting do you have? thge irridescent blue coloring of the Koran literally glows under good lighting. It is almost like having a juv emperor as well. great fish.

-Dr Marco :sfish:

i may go with the emperor afterall. althought i want to do something new too so i may risk it. it just scares me becasue i know how hard angels can be together. but big risk can give big payoff

ive got 2 vho and 2 10000 vho lights hooked up to pfo ballasts. not enough at this point for really crazy corals so im down with the angelfish risk

that is the thing. If you are going with angels, don't be afraid to mix corals with them. Mushrooms and leathers seem to be a great fit with angels.
