180 gallons up in this!!!! NWKRC!

Hey Red what do you think about Clown Tangs? Cant decide on sohal or clown or desjardinii. What would go best with an Imperator Angel. Give it a year or so and Ill join you in having LARGE majestic fishies.

PS Dont forget about Lionfish hes in you fellas club too.

Lionfish does not have angelfish. Our club is exclusively for those with NUTS big enough to care for angelfish. Tangs are great, but... angelfish are where it is AT!!!

Clown tangs have a survival rate just slightly above Achilles Tangs, which rate is just a step below a skydiver jumping without a parachute. I would skip the clown tang and go with the sailfin, for hardiness. they are nicer fish than the Sohal. Only a real man with "great skills" would attempt a Sohal.

BTW Ryan, remind me to show you a pic of my Sohal tang sometime

-Doc

nice comparison there doc. that freakin cracked me up!

ryan I would say sohal, only because I'm not a very big sailfin fan. sohals incredibly beautiful fish. very aggressive, but beauty always comes with a price right? so are you willing to pay it?

I say Sohal as well. they are not as common in tanks as sailfins are (due to their cost and potential for aggression), but if kept with the right tankmates (him being smaller by 3 inches) he will pose no major problems, EXCEPT with other tangs. that part is just a gamble. Some will accept other tangs, most will bully them into corners and eventually kill them. Sohal's have the largest scalpel on their tails of any tang and they know how to use it! But their beauty....wow. Take a look at an adult:

i thought that was going to be yours for a minute..... then i looked down at the koran and was like .... oh nope

yeah, that sohal at Caesar's palace is even just a bit more beautiful than mine. Since I had a pic of it, I figured I would use it. Thanks for letting me abuse and Hijack your thread.

BTW, how did the cutting of the toadstool go yesterday?

-Doc

Dude go Naso!
fishandcarshow047.jpg

they have all the beauty of an angel good for the corals and with 4 scalpals could KICK SOME ASS IF IT WANTED TO ~! lol

Lionfish, you know I have nothing but love for you. I have the utmost respect for your reefing talent. But let's face it. Nasos are the retarded cousin of the cool tangs. They are kind of pretty, but are not aggressive at all. a blenny could whoop up all over its orange and yellow ass. They are lovers, not fighters. they need 4 scalpels because they forget where their ass is and just flop about. Again, dude, I love you, but, Nasos just don't have what Sohals do

:^:

so doc.... what does that make jack? cuz he's a friendly dude. I sure hope you believe there are exceptions to the rule

Vlamingis are the exception to the rule. They are not Naso tangs. Naso tangs are pussies. Sohal tangs kick ass, as do powerder blue / brown tangs. Vlamingis are in due to the coolness of their names

-Doc

although naso and vlamingi are both in the unicornfish classification. at leas I am victorious due to a name.

btw I did not do the coral cutting lastnight. ran out of time doing other stuff. ill have to try to handle it tomorrow evening

picture time!!!!!!!!

ok so its been a while.... a few pictures here, a few pictures there. well here are a whole slew of them so you all can see my tank currently today! now i will come out and say right now I KNOW im completely aware i still have some algea problems. its sad. ive been trying to rid it. hell most of you have no idea how hard it is to keep up with more than regular water changes on a tank this size.

so i was getting really frustrated about lame crappy pics that were coming out on my camera and really sat down and read about it. seeme like it was taking 50 pics and trashing 49. but now its much much better. now some of them are a bit blurry. But im posting them anyways because they are pics that give you the size differences of my fish. Only doc knows how hard it is to get 2 angels that arent exactly "buddy buddy" in the same shot an thirdly how hard it is to get an incredibly active vlamingi (vlamingi vlamingi vlamingi!) in that same shot. so here they are. hope you all enjoy!

well there was a different setting about the auto focus that i changed so it automatically adjusts the focus when the shutter button is pressed halfway where my dumb not knowing anything self was on a once only focus function or something. anyways it worked out a lot better.

Beauty, just beauty. Only a reefing REJECT would think that angelfish were not the prettiest fish in the ocean after seeing that queen. Magnificent!!! I love the color. I am glad to see Michael and Gabriel are getting along better. I still cannot get my "big three" to sit still for a shot. I want to enter it for the POTM next month. Great job on the photos. I love them

Glad you liked em Doc, (I knew you would) There is still a tear in the fin once a week or so, but as far as the korans health he is doing well and healing and then gets slightly beat up again. so for now its not at any kind of stressful level. Jack gets a chunk taken out of his fin once in a while too he likes to back up michael. they are super good buds and ive actually seen Jack swim up into the Queen like he was pushing her out of the way and saying back the hell up

how could you at least not want a vlamingi? I mean i understand about the angels. you have corals that they will eat. but how can you say no to a fish like Jack???
