Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

medium to large. Clown tangs are in the same family as Sohals. They can be a trick to keep alive. They can get aggressive, but in your system, Biff, it should be OK. I am not sure, with the newness of the system, how it will fare. Hope it all goes well.

Have you thought more about the Majestic? I noticed that HUGE tank in another thread had one in it - did you pick up on that? take the plunge and add it.

Yeah the clown tang is one of the more aggressive of the tangs. It should get along with the other fish I have now -- I don't have anything else aggressive and it's small for now. So it can be dominant if it wants! He is eating well already, picking the algae off the glass and rocks, so I think he will be okay. They aren't prone to ich like powder blues or hippos, so I don't have worries there. I think he'll be okay.

Nealll its you

Dude, what are you talking about?

Biff, I love this thread. If I had a big tank it would be full of tangs.

Aahhh, I almost forgot about the plumbing. Looks good, however the pvc pipe that is inserted into the bulkhead below the tank does not look safe. Did he use regular pvc glue to connect the two? Is that a drain line or return?

That's a drain line. And it's regular PVC glue.

The reason I asked is because the bulkhead is ABS and the pipe is PVC. Regular pvc glue will not bond correctly when trying to connect PVC to ABS. There is a special glue made for this. I bet if you gave it a good twist it would come off. Just make sure you keep an eye on it.

Here is what I used, it is better to have the pipe go over the bulkhead instead of inside; less restriction. Biff, I would hate to see that pipe come off and drain water all over your floor.

There isn't any pressure on the PVC since it's just a simple gravity feed. I think it'll be okay.

And Yote -- you are a REDNECK GENIUS! Putting just TWO $7 clip-on fans on my tank dropped the day-time temp by almost 10 degrees! My tank is now sitting at a crisp 77 instead of 86. Woohoo! No freakin chiller for me!

Got some daisy polyps today. Will post a pic soon. Oh, and Neal found a desert tortoise in our driveway. We took it to the Reptile Specialist store, the lizard lady said that they are illegal to sell and if you find them in town, you have to either keep it as a pet or give it up to the desert tortoise rescue organization, since you cannot reintroduce "lost" ones into the wild.

So Clementine is currently sitting in one of my spare tanks, munching on some zucchini. We are going to build a pen for her outside. I'll post a pic of Clementine too!

Wow! That's impressive. I was having a bad problem with my temperature with my 72 and metal halides. Fans here I come for the new 125. Biff...that frogspawn....is it a hardy coral? My lfs has some and I want to get some after the new 125 is stable. Anything in particular I should be aware of with it? Special care, etc.

Quick update. Me cleaning some live rock off. It's STINKY and is probably going to be a while for it to finish curing so I can add it to the tank :(. I hate being patient.

Here are the new daisy polyps. Sorry for the crappy glare in the pictures. It sucks.

I'm breaking the suicidal goby cult right here and now.

My Diamond Watchman goby is totally awesome. He comes out to eat frozen food when I turn off the pumps. He hides in caves and caverns. Never gets near the top of the tank. I've seen him get spooked and he never swims up to the top--he goes straight for the bottom and finds a rock to hide under.

His name is Cracker.

Don't mean to hijack Biff. Just wanted all of you to know, there is hope for the Diamond Watchman. I gotta admit--he does look like a "Tard"

Now watch--mine will be carpet surfing when I get home from work. :grumble:
