Well the movement will be done using two MP40s not the normal regular pump....

I think that would be fine -- you could even go stronger. Does that tank have two corner overflows, or will you be using an overflow box?

The return pump should always be rated higher than the overflow. Are you drilling the tank or using an overflow box?

Also, it needs to accomodate for the fact that the pump has to pump the water up a few feet. You'll need to measure this.

There's a handy app/tool online to calculating what size return you'll need. I'm at work right now so I can't look it up for you but if nobody knows it I'll try to post it later.

JPython, I'm in the middle of building out my tank that's similar dimensions to yours.(72Lx27Wx21D) I'm ordering the Aqua Illumination Vega's that they just released. They're going for $500 US. I emailed them and was told 3 units would be perfect for my tank. They're using 80 degree lens' on them to give them a little wider coverage.

Right now this is the only place that has them listed...they're not even shipping yet because they are so new. I was planning to order from Bulk Reef Supply as soon as they have them on the site.

Well i just bought 3 Radion XR30w LED fixture ... i am so excited about them however my wallet is really upset ...

I am setting up a 172 G tank .... its has the following diameters (71 (180 cm) L x 24 (60 cm) W x 24 (60 cm) T)

i am not sure how long the fixture should be as if i went with their standard real combo i have the following options:

1) total L of 62in (158 cm) approx or
2) total L of 66in (168 cm)

or shall i do something custom with totally different dimension.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking but I think you're talking about where to mount or hang them.

d2mini has a 7ft. tank with four radions....and he had his hanging rails made for him by a local guy. I would try talking to him about placement and mounting options for them.
