pep shrimp are reef safe mate. i know many people who have them.

Peppermint shrimp are reef safe. Some places mistakenly sell camel shrimp as peppermint shrimp. Camel shrimp look very similar, and are not reef safe.

I'd say to go buy some Aiptasia X and get rid of them while it's still early! It could be weeks or months before your tank is suitable for shrimp, as shrimp can be pretty sensitive.
