What is it?

I have a small piece of rock sprouting some toothpick sized looking twig things. The ones in pic are reddish with a white tip. I can see three of those. Also, 2 others that are a bit shorter that are all white.

look like vertmid (sp?) snails. Have you seen them shoot a very fine strand from there?

If that is what they are, they are harmless but annoying. If the web is bothering a coral you can superglue their tube shut

Nope, haven't seen a fine strand coming from them. I actually just notced them today so I will keep an eye on them. Since they are snails, will they move around? I don't have any corals yet so that is not a concern right now. They are on a small(<1/4 lb) piece of rock I got last week that come from a coral tank at LFS.
