Team Seahorse Contest Deco

Catherine,
Will you be feeding yourself or do you have a doser ? If you would like a timer controlled dual dosing pump I found a guy that has them cheap. I actually bought one and can answer just about any questions about it . if interested let me know and I will get you the info.

Tex, I'm trying to figure out how to use a doser with live baby brine shrimp. I would love to figure out how to automate the whole system. Do you have any ideas?

C

Catherine your tank is lookin' good. I hope you stay in the contest.

Thanks, David. I'll stay in as long as I can but I knew I wouldn't make it to the finish line because of the "no mod" rule. You know, it's an artist thing, we've got to break the rules!

hmmm, forgot about the whole live thing.

I will do some research and see if I can find anything, but I have never worked with live brine so nothing from experience here.

Here is a quick shot of the pump, maybe it will work . I'm not sure but I paid $130 shipped. Most of the dual pumps I have seen were more around the $500-$600 range and didnt have timers. These also have adjustable pump speed.

I have used those in the past and never really had success with them. Also, the way the enrichment process works they just simply won't do. Thanks though.

This is the age old problem with dwarfs and why they are such a huge commitment. You are married to the hatching and enrichment process.

Thats what I was affraid of with that hatchery system. I was just trying to point out another option of possibilities. I'm not having much luck finding anything on the net, as far as dosing live food goes. :grumble:

Thanks, Tex!

I've been researching this for a year and I haven't found anything. I'm working with another LR member to build an automated system but it is in it's infancy. If you have any ideas or expertise, I'm all ears!

Tex, how do these work?

C

absolutely, all you would have to do is load it up with that days servings. But you would still have to enrich the shrimp else where. But you could do multiple ones of these, so it would automatically enrich after a set amount of time after you put them into hatch. Then you could rinse the shrimp, put some them in the dosing pump with more enrichment and set that pump to go off after 12 hrs of enriching. The rest put in another jar and finish enriching them and then refrigerate them. Then you refill the dosing pump with the refrigerated stuff, and then wait a day and then start the hatch cycle over again.

So with 3 of these pumps we could get pretty close to making this automated!

Got these shots this morning: This is what I'm working for, lots and lots of these bugs!

I'm really impressed that I don't have any muck spots. I can't really figure out why I don't, there is really bad circulation!
