Smitty's Reef

I think my clam is dying. His tissue looks like it's receding underneath and inside a little. He's been looking like this for a few days now.

Wow smitty, that sucks. Are your calcium and mag levels ok? It doesnt look like it has been putting any new shell down. My clam adds a new ridge every month or two since I got him in march.

My levels are all perfect...and I've been on top of my weekly water changes, so no problem there. I've also thought about the massive power outage being an issue. But I believe it started going downhill while I was on vacation in Florida. I gave my uncle my room key and asked him to top off the tank with the ro water I had in the bucket. I left that thursday, and he didn't top it off until saturday afternoon. So imagine the water loss during that time frame, not to mention the clam was up high on the rock work, so he was probably very close to being out of the water. And when my uncle poured the water in, he just POURED it in, causing a quick change in salinity. I think he poured the ro water directly on the clam, because when I got home sunday, the clam was on the sandbed, upside down, and hasn't been the same since. A few of my corals were also drawn up and not fully extended too.

Tank really does look awesome Smitty. Sucks to see your clam like that, I guess getting blasted in the face with fresh RO wasn't all that great for him. Head up homie, live and learn right? :D

We obviously need a thesaurus. lol
How about these for future reference : that blows, that licks, what a bummer, what a piss off, say it ain't so.... :)

RIP Mr. Clam indeed :(

Are you sure you don't see any pests on it? I'd take it out and do a freshwater dip and see if anything comes off of it.
