I was thinking about going with a green flower pot or some kind of green mushrooms "mulisik"I dont kno if thats how you spell it but what do you guys think is the hardiest?
and my PH is a pain in the butt to keap it at 8.3 Its like I have to buffer it every day I think as the tank ages and becomes more stable I wont have 2 buffer it as much?
thanx

Well,Gonioporas(flowerpot corals) are delicate corals and should be left for the experts. There are tons of different mushrooms which makes great starter corals.

Consider switching salt brands if you are having difficulty keeping pH consistent.

+1 on the goni, even me that have succesfully keep a goni and made it to drop some offsprings it is very hard to keep them alive. I've had one out of 4 that I bought that is still going and managed to keep a dying frag alive. I don't recommend buying these for novice reefers. It is very hard to keep and only a few able to keep it longer than a year.

Biff can explain it better than I can.But your PH drops at night when the photosynthic stuff stop using up carbon dioxide. The carbon builds up and causes carbonic acid which drops the PH.
Then when the lights come back on,the opposite happens and the PH rises.
Always chech the PH right before the lights go off.

At night CO2 is no longer being absorbed by means of photosynthesis and therefore is building up. CO2 cause the water to become "more" acidic which means it drops the PH. This is also the reason for having the lights on a refugium on a opposite 12hour cycle of the display or on 24 hours a day so when the lights are off there is still photosynthesis going on to absorb the extra CO2 the fish produce by breathing before it forms into carbonic acid . So if you test before the lights go off you will see the highest and if you test before the lights come on you will get the lowest and you can then see the swing of PH on your tank. Which if more than a small amount in a 24 hour period can become deadly or stunt growth in corals.
