Does anyone have thoughts about this for my tank. Would it be ok to mount inside my canopy, maybe 5 inches above the water line.

I would hang it but the wife wants to keep the canopy on.

it may not fit. i had to get rid of my caopy because the fixture would not fit in in my canopy.

If you had to choose between 96 watt t5 and a 130 watt power compact which would you choose?

Maybe. I think i should let the people who are better with the lighting stuff chime in though.

the 96 watt is a pc bulb not a t5 and a 96w pc is a 36in bulb. do some searches for retrofit lights.

The two I am looking at are current 2x65 pc and a fish need OT 30" 4x24 t5.

You will have more color options for your bulbs if you go with the T5 fixtures. It took me almost 2 months of searching and researching to pick mine. I am on a budget so I went with the aquaticlife 2 bulb t5 fixture that allows you to hook together up to 3 fixtures. This way I can get one at a time and eventually get 6 bulbs.

If you are trying to put it in a canopy though, I think you should look for retrofit fixtures that will allow you to do that.
