Interesting Find

Tonight I shut down all my pumps for the tank, so I could treat the aiptacia. When I plugged back in the pumps in the sump, neither of them would work!! What are the chances that they both quit at the same time. Long story short, I found these creatures in the back part of one of the pumps. I've never had any bristle stars or anything like them in my tank, that I know of. They appeared to be green with a brown center. I hope they are not bad, as 2 of them actually moved, so I put them back in the tank. Can anyone tell me what they are?

Those are micro brittle stars. Must have been something tasty in your pump

How big are they? because they look big:shock:

Usually about the size of a quarter.

They are actually very small. I'd say they where about the size of a dime.

Do you mean with all there tenticles too or are you just measuring the round body part?

That's with the tenticals out. The one may have been the size of a quarter.

I have these and they are a great part of the CUC. I have them in my biocube and they don't bother anything, I have the cleanest sand though! Plus I think they are super cute.
