Hex Tank

    I was just given a hexagon oceanic 42 gallon.... Is this a good tank to start a fish only tank.... :bowdown:

    I would say that a hex is really only suited for a FO or a FOWLR setup the lighting would be difficult to turn it into a reef. But hex tanks look cool and you should be able to do quite a bit with that. Nice score.

    there is also a nice cube sump design on melevsreef made for a hex tank RR Hex and Sump!

    Yes should work out nicely for fish only with maybe some live rock to help filtration out.You put a 50/50 light on the top give a nice tint to you tank.should be able add hob skimmer to mix.Down the road if decide to reef a single halide pendat work fine with it.have a look at the articles section for some great starter tips,and welcome to the forum
