Doc's Shark Tank

I think I would have used silicone to hold down the trim. They use silicone from the factory because it will allow for the glass to expand. Glass changes size with temp. I would keep an eye on it.

That is a good point. I may attach it better with silicone. I have to check to see how solid it is after drying for the last several hours

So, the Gorilla Glue seems to be holding. I ran a bead of silicone under the outside frame along the glass and black frame just in case. BUT...I still have a question...

How long do I need to wait for the silicone to "cure" (is that the right term?) before I change over the tank? I was hoping to set it up tomorrow. The silicone has been sitting since last night at about 9pm. I was planning on setting up the tank tomorrow at about 6pm, so just under 48 hours

I'd let the silicone cure for AT LEAST 48 hours.Remember the fumes?Just because the outside has set up,dont mean the inside of the bead is fully cured.

48 hours will be fine. I think it says 24 to 48 and when I did mine I never had the patients to wait 48 so I went with 24 hours and no problems.

I have noticed the smell is gone from the silicone. I will be ready tomorrow. It will make a mess but will SO be worth it!!!

My tube of silicone says 72hrs.I've added to saltwater without any problems after 48hrs.

I have to say what a great job on the seams, very professional! So this is a 210 gallon tank, yeah?

Just a touch bigger my friend. 29 inches tall: 220.

As for the silicone job, it was all luck. I am satisfied that it worked out like it did. I think I am ready to go with it. I just need to find a few guys to come help lift it and swap out tanks. I have planned to do it about 5pm Utah time and I will post pics when I am done.

You sure about that? You're not trying to add 10 gallons just to outdo me are you?

My 210 shares the same dimensions,72x24x29.

LMAO!!! Heaven's no my friend. I am just going by my handy-dandy tank volume calculator that I found on the internet. Technically, it is "216.93-something or other gallons", but I call it 220. I would call yours the same size and mine..... but my sump is bigger... but I still love you man! :^:

According to garf.org the tank is 217 gallons. I hate to burst any bubbles, but what are the inside of the tank measurements? If the glass is a half inch thick then the inside is 71x23x28 1/2 which brings the tank to around 203 gallons.LMAO

Bobby is correct -- you have to measure the INSIDE of the tank, not the outside dimensions!!!:nanananan:nanananan:nanananan:
