changing sock in sump

How often should I change the sock connected to my drainage tube to the sump? Every water change? How do I know when to get a new one? I hope Im not the only one using a sock here. Do most of you use socks?

i use filter socks and you should change them every 3 or 4 days. i have 5 socks so when i put my last one on i wash the other 4 in the washer with about a 1/4 cup of bleach and nothing else i also turn them inside out when i wash them then let them air dry

I use socks too. To go off of emmett, I use delicate cycle. They start balling the fibers when they get beat up. I use them 4 to 5 times and then they get the rest of their life on my pond. I would say 1 per month on rotation cycle.

I do the same thing, run a plain water cycle right before I wash the socks. Change them every 4-5 days.
