yes the live parts of the flesh still have polyps... my biocube is only 3 months old.. do lights go bad that quickly??

The lights it comes with are known to be crappy and needing to be replaced sooner rather than later.

But are the polyps come out normally now?

about 25% percent of the mat is bleached... about 20% of the mat that is alive... yes the polyps do come out.


can you reccomend better bulbs for my biocube? just the bulbs that i can replace rather than getting new fixtures or any other gear?

I would just replace the bulbs. But it sounds like moving it to a higher flow area has helped out. It might be too late for some of the bleached mat, but the healthy areas will eventually recover the area that died.

But you did get some powerheads right?

I would get some powerheads then before you get new bulbs.

You can get some very nice maxijet powerheads for about $20, and i think one small one would be just perfect for your tank.

All you gotta do is plug it in! And most lfs carry them, at least the ones in my area. But any similar thing will work.

You want around 10 - 15x your water volume to be turned over per hour, so around 200 gal /min for your tank.
