I'm starting my first SW tank, and in my research I read that sometimes it's bad to over skim your tank... So my question is, I like this skimmer

Reef Octopus Needle/Pin Wheel Protein Skimmer

It's a reef Octopus which I've heard only good things about it's $135.99 which is almost the cheapest I have seen and it is rated up to 100g, with 1 year manufacturer warranty on skimmer and pump... all the reviews on it are all good or great. As well as it will sit in the sump, I am going to have a 20g sump.

Would this be just enough for my tank or would I need a more rated skimmer?

That sounds like a pretty good deal, just make sure the dimensions will fit in your sump.

What could possibly be over sized for a tank?
Generally when you get to one that's rated at more then 2x the tank volume you can start to lose efficiency.

Lol no I was just saying what we're getting. They do have them for bigger tanks though

The biggest one they sell is only for up to a 65g tank. It should work great for yours though!

Since we have a 29 gallon, can we use this one [ame=http://www.amazon.com/AquaticLife-Internal-Mini-Skimmer-115/dp/B001V95TZA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313861352&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: AquaticLife Internal Mini Skimmer 115 - up to 30 gal. - 3 in x 3.25 in x 10.5 in: Kitchen & Dining[/ame]

It's not a Hydor.. oh we did decide we're going to build a sump ;)
