The water pressure here is absolutely horrible, and I have been shopping for booster pump options. During my reading I stumbled across an article on ReefBuilders about the AquaticLife Smart Buddie Booster Pump. So after some conversation with aquaticlife about the possible release date I decided to wait it out. It finally showed up, so here is the beginning of my experience with it.

What exactly does the Smart Buddie do? It turns any RO/DI system into a powered system with premium features like increasing water pressure, automatic flushing, and low and high pressure switches to increase performance and life of your membrane and pumps.
First off, this Smart Buddie can easily plumb into most RO or RO/DI systems. The powered system will allow you to get optimum water pressure up to 90 PSI to increase performance and reduce waste water. This is a great option for those of you off the municipal supply where pressure is an issue.
The automatic flush valve feature reduces build up around the membrane to help prolong the life of the membrane.
The pressure management part of the pump may not seem to be the most intriguing part of the Smart Buddie, however it may be two of the best features of the system. If there is a problem along the way and the pressure drops below 7.25 PSI, the low pressure switch shuts off the system helping to extending the life of the pump.
Conversely, the high pressure switch turns off the booster pump if the filtered water pressure is greater than 33.35 PSI. Where this feature comes in handy is when using storage containers with float valves or pressure canisters. As the containers fill, there is an increase in back pressure on the filtered water line pushing water back into the membrane. The Smart Buddie Booster Pump unit will disconnect power to the pump and prevent this backpressure and flow back into the system.
