10 Gal Reef set-up

So the regular Ocellaris Clown I bought off CL about a week ago had the swollen eye last night and wasn't really swimming at all last. He refused food this morning and when I got home from work, about two hours later I found him laying at the bottom of the tank. R.I.P. little nemo :(.

Also, in my 10g, my green star polyp appear to have diatoms spreading across it and it won't come out? Is that going to hurt it? And should I take it out and ask my LFS to hold it for me till the bloom goes away (It's lessened a LOT in the past 24 hours). Any help is really appreciated

Picked up a cleaner shrimp. A Duncan (Not sure if I mentioned it or not already), a new frogspawn/torch, and a trumpet of some kind (not sure of the exact name). Got some really nice neon green coralline algae forming on all the rocks. I've got 9 Nassarius Snails, 3 red hermits, 1 zebra hermit, and 2 turbo snails in there. I'll post pics soon :)

Some pics with just daylights and then actinics :). Excuse the algae on the glass, didn't feel like scraping it cause of all the pods everywhere. Is there a way to remove it without killing all the pods?

And the last two. Sorry I couldn't get a better picture of the cleaner, he likes the back of the tank for some reason :p

I have kinda been wondering the same thing on the pods...there is hundreds all over my glass and I hate to kill them to clean algae

don't worry bout the pods....they will micro-bail at the las minute and swim away in the cloud of zooplankton!!!!

Hey Anthony....how bout a FTS????

So, do you think if I dosed my 10g with pods every so often (There are thousands of them all over the glass and in the rocks. A mix of co and amph) I'd be able to try a tiny Scooter Blenny?

a scooter bleny needs a tank size of 30G and I would say no even though you have pods unless you get a tank with a HOB fuge or a sump

I heard you can use Oyster eggs to supplement feeding for them though. Wouldn't that work?

Also, the one I was looking at was 1/2"-3/4". As it grew I could always put it in the 55g that I dosed with copes and amphs a while ago. They are everywhere in that tank as well. And, for some reason, my fish in there never attempt to eat them (probably cause I do 5-7 small meals a day for them with mysis/pellets :p)

I gotta bring back the question....would you buy a dog that you know is going to get too big....would you just take the dog back after he outgrows your needs? The fish is going to get too big for that....

He wouldn't be brought back. He would simply be re-located from one of my tanks to another. And, back to the oyster eggs question, would that work?

So, question for everyone. Should I upgrade this tank to a 45 cube (comes with nothing but stand and tank) or a 29g Biocube that comes with a 4bulb t5 unit built into the hood as well as a sump in the back. They are around the same price... but I'd save a lot if I went with the 29, but the 45 has more space... so I'm at a impasse. Just got my tax return in so, I'm willing to splurge a little and upgrade this tank :)! Also, going to be getting a metal halide set up for the 55g to start doing corals in there as well! :bounce:

I would say the bigger the better but man dude you have a lot of tanks...maybe get good at the 55 then upgrade? I would buy some nice equipment for the 55 like lights and a controller, maybe even a vortech mp10wes

Lights are being ordered as soon as I find the one I want to buy for it. And I don't need Mp10s for it... I already have 2,000gph flow in there lol. And, as of right now, I only have 3 actually functional tanks. The 4th is a QT right now :p. I wouldn't be adding a tank, rather converting one to a different. I don't mind having a few tanks :). And, I'm okay with testing my water and manually controlling the lights for it... so I don't see a controller any time in my future :p.

I get that you have flow but it is nice to have random flow with all the different modes and a controller is absolutely worth the money

it is a tank life saver, just tonight my heater was going nuts and it sent me an email to say the temp was off...I literally press one button and all powerheads turn off for feeding and automatically turn on after 5 min, it works my lights, auto top off. just saves my life and saves me time!!!

but anyway, get the 45 biocube
