Biffy Finally Gets a Build Thread!

I took a look at what had become of my xenia farm yesterday. I tallied up 35 stalks of pom pom (pulsing) xenia on live rubble. Took the "children" to the LFS and traded them in for a coral consisting of 19 heads of purple and blue streaked bubble gum pink candy canes and 8 heads of branching hammer!!! And I only had to pay $4 to make up the difference. It took less than 2 months for my xenia to grow those 35 stalks, so from now on, I'll try to use my store credit from my xenia farming operation to buy new stuff for my tank.

I took pics this morning when everyone opened up, I'll post them when I get home.

Oh, and another quick update.

I've never really target fed any of my corals. Never thought I needed to. Everyone always looked healthy.

Well, I've had this one head of baby blue candy cane for like 4 or 5 months now. Just one head (and it cost an arm and a leg because of its very very blue color, just AMAZING looking). It's never grown, never split, nothing. Four days ago, I started feeding it some fish food every night. Now it's starting to split! I had this thing for almost half a year and it never grew, then after four days of feeding, it finally decides to do something!!

So yeah, I've been target feeding EVERYTHING that will take food every day since. My ricordeas, my xenia farm, my torch, frogspawn, bubble, blastos, and since yesterday, my new hammer and new candy canes. I'm a target feeding fiend.

That is what i am thinking of doing growing coral and trading them to the lfs for different corals. but i still need to get more. good thinking biff that will save you tons of money down the road and make you tank look even better.

waoo 23.000 views...and how many posts???..even if i look back im gonna say the same..PURE ENVY HERE BIFF...did i spell that rigth reeffreak??..

You got it right my friend.

Biff I swear by this.....
Shut off the return pump and leave two powerheads on.Put a cube worth size of cyclopeeze into the water. It will get the feeder tentacles expose on your corals and they will get some food each day.I gotten some incredible growth with trumpets, brains, candy canes and pretty much all the LPS corals....even my sun polyps are getting their fair share.I have quit feeding directly each coral because well,it's just to much work.

I like feeding them directly! One piece of mysis at a time with my tweezers. I feel like a momma hen.

I can't easily turn off my return pump. It's a pain in the ass. I only turn it off when I absolutely have to.

Plus, my tank is 7 feet long, 3 feet wide and 3 feet deep. I'd need a hell of a lot of cyclopeeze to just drop some in and expect all my corals to be fed. I'm better off feeding them one by one by myself.

Here is what my xenia farm looked like right before I brought it into my LFS for $140 in credit!!

wow I love the hammer. I am definitly an LPS guy with a hint towards the hammers, torches, and frogspawns. I especially love the branching hammer that you got. How much did you pay for it so I can compare when I look to buy one? Also please show some actinic only shots if you can so we can see how your tank looks all neon'd out
