What program to edit RAW files?

All of you with Nikon cameras, how are you editing your RAW files in Lightroom? I'm using Lightroom 2.7 but, everytime I try to add my RAW files to the library or edit them, I get a box saying it's an invald file type. I'm using a Nikon D5000 and it's a .nef file.

Well, never mind that last post, this latest update didn't list support for my camera but, it's seems to be working with my RAW files now.

BL was just going to post, update will pick up your camera. i had the same issue. i have lightroom3 and it couldnt open my files, i needed to update then it worked. in some cases if your camera is new new your forced to wait for an update.

I was actually following along with your thread which is why I downloaded the update but, in my haste I forgot to actually install it. I thought it was weird though that my camera wasn't actually listed as one of the cameras added into that update.

Right now, I've got
D70 with 35-80mm NIKKOR, 24-70mm SIGMA, and 100-300mm TAMRON
D5000 with 18-55mm NIKKOR DX lens
