quick question... how will pods get from my tank down to the sump with the mecanical filter.... or is that no big deal if they are breeding enough down there that i wont have to worry about it.

They will somehow manage to spread. Not sure how, but they find their way down there. I'm guessing some will come on any live rock or macroalgae you put in your fuge. Also, take any sponge out of your return pump or else the pods will just get stuck in there on their way back to the display tank.

they dont ever come with a sponge in them do they? i am planning on putting a thing of live pods there from the lfs to get them started i just didnt know if that would be enough... but im sure it will

Mine (Eheim) came with a sponge. I had to take the casing off and remove it. Duh I only figured that out after I'd been running it for about six months already though.
