Water Pump

Reefing newb
I have a 12 gal aquapod and I'm not sure how I should point my water pumps (im not sure what they are called but they return the water to the aquarium after being filtered). I had them pointed out straight but that caused some of the sand on the opposite side of the tank to be blown away. I now have them slighty turned towards the top of the tank causing the surface water to ripple. Is this a problem? How should I point these out in the tank?

Thank you for the help.

How you have them placed is good. If they are creating a ripple at the water's surface, they are oxygenating the water and keeping it better circulated than if they were pointed in another direction.

Just keep in mind, that as you stock corals and add rock.the flow needs will change. So you'll have to play around with it some to get it just right.
