Use of Carbon Sheets

Hello,

I have a question regarding the use of carbon in my wet/dry filter. I have a 72 gallon tank that has been up for 8 months and I started using carbon sheets in the wet/dry filter with the white filter medium. My question is, is this necessary or am I doing more harm then good by removing necessary trace elements? :question:

I do routine water changes as well as add Kent Reef Products – Iron, Calcium, etc.

I also have a protein skimmer and sterilizer.

My fish all seem to be doing fine.

Some reefer run it all the time some will run it on few day and remove it.Yes will strip out trace elements,but with water changes and proper dosing it should no be an issue to run all the time.This what I do

I use carbon all the time in my 125. It seems to keep the water crystal clear. I do regular water changes and dose with trace elements weekly. I would continue to do it unless you find a major problem in your tank.
