Hello everyone, new to the group and my first post, how long on average are the dead prawns left in the tank that help to start the cycle ?.

You can remove it when your ammonia spikes, then monitor ammonia and nitrite. When both are zero, you should be good to go I have heard of people leaving it in until it completely disintegrates. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
