The other day i picked up a sun coral which is starting do well, started target feeding for the first time and its started to open up. So we will see how that goes over the next few days.

I picked up my first hard coral. I believe it was an acro

Its much more silver than in that picture

and got a nice colony of zoos which were glowing amazingly, so im going to pickup some better lights.

I was wondering if there is a way for me to make these zoos grow? can i target feed them so they spread faster?

And is there anything i need to know with the Acro about keeping it other than dosing calcium ?

The zoos will grow how they grow. You don't have to feed them or anything. You'll need to dose calcium, alk and magnesium for SPS corals and you will also need test kits for each to test daily until you can get your level stable with your dosing. Then you still need to test at least 1x per week. Acros require high lighting, higher flow and extremely stable water params with the right amount of calcium and alk. Magnesium is important as well, but not as important as calcium and alk levels.

You'll need to stay on top of feeding that sun coral as they're non-photosynthetic and cannot get any nutrients from the water or lighting.

Congrats on the new additions. Good luck with the SPS. I'd recommend seeing how it does for 4-5 weeks before adding another one.

Thanks for the comments. Ill pick up the other test kits and doses i dont have. Am definitely going to enjoy a bit of a challenge as so far its been a little bit easy keeping everything going :P

I target feed the sun coral daily, but he is also getting knocked off his rock every night. Hrmmm, wonder what is doing that.

Nice additions! I saw in the other thread that you are only using 2 t5's, if that is the case IMO you will need to upgrade for that SPS to thrive. Will be keeping up to see the turn out. :)

Nah, I have 2 HO T5's and a 150 watt metal halide. So 4.9 watts per gallon after the reflectors come into it. Thanks though :)
