Skimmer???

OK so just got a 40gallon tank the guy I got it from said he ran it for 3 years without one and he put one on right before he upgraded so he kept that. So???? 40gallon tank what skimmer? No sump hang on filter.

IMO I would recommend THIS for a 40g.
I use this HOB skimmer on my 30g and it's great.

If you order from the link I sent, they will send you a free GFO reactor which is a great deal. You can hook it up for phosphate removal or Carbon.

The Octopus is probably one of the top skimmers on the market and definitely one of the best HOB type.

Octopus makes great skimmer. Don't know about the hang on type though as I never had one. Another great skimmer is the CSS (coralife super skimmers). I went in order CSS, octopus, ASM and right back to the CSS. I loved all three but the octo and AMS heated the tank up too much and I got about the same amount of skimmate out of each.
