Often times when a shark emerges from the egg case, it will still have some yolk sack visible and available for it's nutrition. If there is still a visible yolk sack, the newly born shark will probably not feed until after the remaining yolk sack is consumed. If you want to get a really good view of the developing shark and are confident in your surgery skills, you can use an Xacto knife and cut a small window the egg case and then crazy glue a thin piece of plastic to it for a window. The procedure is often done by public aquariums that want to show visitors how the shark develops and I have successfully done procedure several times back in my university days .
