Sarah's new 60 gallon!

That's good to do I've at times had that issue when my girlfriend would do the surprise new fish.... After just losing one she would always try to replace what passed. I know it was all a kind gesture.
But like everyone has said that wait time is rather important. Sarah I wish you the vary best with your tank I myself have had a rough start. In the tank I have set up now it crashed twice in its first year. I sadly lost all my fish friends except my green clown goby and yellow clown goby at that time. i ended up catching them putting them in QT at work then adding them to the work display tank and started over. I ended up getting a stronger clean up crew. Let it sit for a few weeks. then my peppermint shrimp started to spawn. To me that was a good sign to start adding fish again.

Then the second was this summer when I had a nuclear tank from my room turning in to an oven... I lost so much in such a short time. Sure it sucked big time. But I never gave up even though I wanted to. The kind words and support from the folks here helped me out big time. I look at my tank now and say wow look what I saved. Sure I'm still recovering and will be for some time. But its different now because anything I get must have a job to do. Be it hair algae or some other job with in the tank they much have a tag of cleaner about them.

So just take the hit with a grain of salt and learn from this. Because there is always something to learn. the first year of any new tank is a rough one. I think we all know this. Hell I think out of all of us Smitty had the worst crash aside from a tanks rupture/ exploding. any who chin up Sarah we all got your back :D and are more than willing to help you out.

I needed that. Chin up. Quit complaining. Lots of people go thru rough times. A lot of them much, much rougher than mine. I guess I was having a pity party. And, there is no point of doing that! I love this forum, you're so right, lots of amazing people on here who really help and I appreciate it so much.
Thank you Kurt. As always I thank everyone for reading and offering wisdom/advice/condolence/the kick in the pants I need.
I just came home and another chromis is dead and being eaten by my cleaner shrimp. So yes, I'm taking everyones' advice and will take a break from adding and just try to maintain great water quality while I wait this out.

I agree with you...we've all had our ups and downs, became extremely frustrated with the hobby, and have wanted to quit, but because of my living reefs family, I've made it thru...we all have. Keep your head up Sarah, we got your back. :)

You'll pull thru this! I'm sure its not you, its just some weird thing going on. Give it some time and go real slow when you do start to add fish again. When things go right and they will....it is so rewarding! Hang in there girl!

Would you be completely opposed to trapping the 6 line and sending him back to the LFS?

I think with all the stress you're feeling about the tank, having a less stressful tankmate to try to match future fish with might be easier.

Hi Brittany :)
Ahhh, I wish I had better news to report. I hate to be a debbie downer. The only fish I can keep alive is the six line. The goby was hosting a coral (a green hairy one) and was such a fun little addition and then he just kept getting skinnier and skinnier and then he died. By the end he truly looked awful. I lost the remaining chromis as well. Again. It's so bewildering. He and the shrimp are fun to watch but not exactly what I had in mind for my 60 gallon.

Hi Brittany :)
The only fish I can keep alive is the six line.

If it makes you feel better, I can't even do that. All I have is an inch long blenny that I never even see. Every other fish that has entered my tank has gone belly up.......

Hmm that is strange. And I am very sorry to hear that. Maybe now you will take an interest in corals :)

Ha, I just saw everyone's comments, you're right Brittany-I thought the same thing. And thanks for asking me before how things were going, I was ignoring my tank and this forum b/c of all my failures and got an email that you posted and it got me back on here and back researching and interested in my tank again.
Samhain I was just reading of your problems, it's so weird what we're going through. Hopefully it turns around for us soon! You lost a flame too right?

You are a Debbie Downer!!!
Guess what else, I'm battling hair algae and red turf! How do you like me now?? Nice and depressing eh? Yeah, that's how I suck you all in. I start the thread all joking and fun and then, bam, it's straight up boo-hoosville. And don't you dare unsubscribe, you made a committment!

I will never unsubscribe! Haha algae is normal, you just have to find a way to control it. Being more flow or maybe the direction of the flow. I know my turbo snails love to now down my algae. Maybe more frequent water changes. Every tank is different. You have to find the cause the algae, once you find that you can control it.

I'll go get a turbo or two tomorrow, good suggestion. I don't have any of them. Plus, then I can add something to my tank!
I changed my timer this morning so the lights will only be on for 7 hours now, not 9. Hopefully that will help.
