Sand and Lava rock rubble

Soo just got my shipment of aquacultured live sand from ebay and it came with a bag of lava rock rubble. 1st question: Whats the easiest way to wash the sand? 2nd: Is lava rock rubble safe for a reef tank?

If it's live sand you don't wash it. It should say on the bag if you need to wash it.

it says live sand so dont wash it, and i would just ditch the lava rock

i was also thinkin of orderin some of that, u think you could use the lava rubble in the fuge? And do you have any pics? And i noticed that you live in Ohio, was the shipment ok in the harsh weather?

The good thing is the place that sells the sand is located in ohio so it wasn't too bad.

Yep, they're right. Lava rock comes from, well lava. Volcanic rocks have all sorts of metals in them. You should only used calcium-based rocks in saltwater setups. If it didn't come from the ocean in the first place, it doesn't belong in a reef tank.

Seeing they claim they know so much about LS aand LR. Why would they give you a bag of lava rock? Wonder how many actually put it in there tank?
