RG behaviour - Hiding or dead?

I'm off to my lfs to get them to test my water too. I'll see what they say about ur method

I Wouldnt really trust LFS that much, there in for a quick buck. but getting to test your water is a good idea. Post up your results.

They had kh at 7.7 and salinity down to 1.016. I've got some new saltwater and I'm going to do a change. All other results were as I found.

Your KH being that low is probably because of the low salinity. Which will also effect the PH.

Instead of doing a regular water change, do several small ones. Take out a gallon of the old water and add a gallon of new mixed to a salinity 1.026 until your salinity is at your target value.

I'll do that. Lfs suggested 30% change every few days.

Annie, if you are measuring your salinity with a hydrometer I would strongly suggest investing in a refractometer. They are far more accurate in measuring salinity and it sounds like however you've been measuring it hasn't been accurate.

I have a refractometer. I suspect it needs calibrating, given the erroneous results.

Yep sounds like it definitely does! I think you can get calibration fluid off of ebay for pretty cheap
