Review of Marineland Ml90512 Maxi-Jet 1200 , 295/1300GPH

I bought this from amazon and it was a great price. The fan create a torrent of current in the tank. I have a 120 Gallon Cube and I put two of these in it. I had to point them up in order to no damage coral. Also, the final straw came when by butterfly fish and Blue tang were sucked into it and remained stuck to the side of the fan before I found them. My blue tang survived but the butterfly fish was nearly sucked inside out.

I converted them to power head mode and I get a lot less current but it's enough and the fish don't get sucked it!

I wonder if there is a defect in the design of the fan or something.

i would think there was something wrong with the fish and not your powerheads. i healthy fish wouldn't get caught in a powerhead.

I had one of those in my frag tank some time ago.
One thing I do not like about them is that the suction cups eventually wear out and the powerhead falls off.
In my frag tank this happened within a couple of months.

Now I just use it as a circulation pump for my salt mixing bucket.

After using pumps with magnet mounts, I will never go back to suction cups again.
