If one of your fish get sick in your display tank. You cant simply put him in the refugium/sump because they are still sharing water, so how do you go about getting him well??

If the fish isnt showing any signs that he will recover on his own, then you will need to set up a quarantine tank. A small 10 gallon tank will do.

C is right. A quarantine tank completely separate from the main tank is often used.

No nothing is wrong with my fish, i was just wondering before the fact. im trying to research all the ins and outs.

For a qurantine tank, you should have these times:
Heater
1 Powerhead
Small hangon filter
Copper
For me personally, this quarantine setup has worked successfully. You want to keep the water quality as good as possible. In a small tank like that, especially without a skimmer, your parameters will change rather rapidly. When i have a sick fish, i do a 15% water change & test the water every other day (this is the main filtration for the tank). With this procedure, i have had success thus far. You want to be sure that your sick fish are feeling better and give them a chance to fight the disease.

Also, stick a piece of PVC in the QT to give the fish some shelter. I wouldn't use any sand or rock. Just bare bottom.
