I have some red goopy looking algae growing in my overflow box this good or bad, I can clean it out easy enough if need be but don't want to if it's good.

It sounds a little like cyano or turf algae. I'd clean it out, you don't want to risk it clogging it up.

Yeah it bubbles up some once the lights are turned on I will clean it out

If it comes off easy,its cyano.It'd take a jackhammer and some explosives to get red turf off.

i have some red slime now i just changed my lighting to mh i think that is why red slime is in my tank i bought some red cyano control it got rid of most of it but i think after a water change i will treat it again if it works i will let u know

Its cyano and almost certainly not Red Turf algae. Cyano is slimey, red turf algae is not.

Any ideas on how to get rid of red turf?
Does anyone have pics of the red turf algae that I can see. I think I have it in my 10 gal tank and if I do it came on my live rock as it had patches of red all over it when I bought it. I use my little scrubby thing on it but it only really works on the smaller patches of it.

Red Turf Algae does NOT come off with a scrubber.
