Question

My sister inlaw just set up a tank that came compleat, she bought from some guy. and in her sand she has this black stuff that looks like carbon and it seems to help her sand from getting to dense and I want to add it to my tank but she's not sure what it is? do you think it's carbon?

My guess it's the Indo-Pacific aragonite sand which is a mixture of black and beige aragonite.

Surely,she doesn't have carbon in the sand.
