Question about my refugium skimmer

You need one of these:
Ameka Aquatics

It plugs into the intake on the skimmer.

IMO - that air line you have on the side of the pump outlet is in the wrong spot. Thats where the high pressure water flows through. It's not gonna suck any air in there - as you found out it's going to push water out that line.
