Question about my new light

I am going from 2 39 watt t5's to 6 39 watt t5's. Can I just put my new light on the tank or will that shock the coral? Do I have to do it slowly? (that's what she said)

Whoa big boy..... slowly.

You have to acclimate the corals over a period of a few weeks.

Yea, it's best to wine and dine them a little then slowly, over time go to full power.

How do I go about it? Just keep the light on for a couple hours a day and then just slowly add time.

yep that is how you do it cut your photo period in half than add 10 min every day

How long you run the light.:D

Start the new lights at something like 4 or 5 hours.Then after a couple of weeks,start adding 10 to 15 minutes a day to the time their own.
If your not carefull,you'll end up with a bunch of white corals.

when I turn the new light off do I put the lights I am using now on?

What I am trying to figure out is after I run the new light for half of the photo period do I put back on the current lights or just leave the lights off for the rest of the day.

Get a few layers of window screen for the tank. Every week take a layer of the screen off and you are set. If you start with 3 or 4 layers you can run the new lights the full length you have been.

Pretty Good idea. I have some but I think it's rubber, and I don't want it to melt. Back to Lowes.
