Hello,
I was reading about pumps and I saw some posts saying that the return pump should be 10-20 times the capacity of your tank.
When I got my pump I had read 5-6 times the capacity of your tank after head loss is figured in.
I have a 90 gallon tank with 40 breeder as my refuge so do I need a 700 like I got or more like 1800?

Thanks,
Angie

Your return should be matched to the overflow rate. Overall tank turn over should be 25 to 40 times tank volume. Which would include all flow rates, return pump, powerheads etc.

So I have 2 Hydor Koralia 1050 gph and 700 gph. That totals 2800 for a 90 gallon tank. It comes out to 31+ times the volume. Plus I am waiting for my new protein skimmer to come and that will also increase turnover. I think.

Is this okay?

Thanks Angie
