Powerhead suggestions

I'm in the market for a new powerhead to run the return into my tank. I've used Taam Rio for many years, most recently the Rio HF26. Problem is this will me second time replacing this pump in 2 years. I've had good luck with other rio pumps but for some reason not the HF26. I love the gph of this pump as I prefer a lot of flow. My setup is a 55gal with 30gal sump. Head pressure is approx 3ft.
What pumps do you recommend that will last a good while and reasonably priced?

Submerged or external? If submerged, look at mag drives or ehiems

I second the eheim suggestion. I've never run them submerged but they keep going and going and going.
Look up some reviews online.

I have had my Mag Drive pump for at least 5 years now. I have even accidentally ran it dry overnight before. Still works. It is loud though.

Checkout the Speedwave DC return pumps they have a controller for speed control and are only 24 volts.
Bulk Reef supply sells them I believe. I use them on both my tanks and are very quiet as well.
